Dongguan, a city of ten million people in China, has only 13 charging stations, a figure that is extremely low for a population of this size and implies severe limitations for daily EV use. The four planned routes connecting to or from the city suggest some nascent regional connectivity, but the absence of an estimated EV count and no climate data means range anxiety is likely a significant deterrent. With such sparse local infrastructure, most residents would struggle to rely on an electric vehicle for routine commutes or errands without extensive planning. The station count is insufficient to serve even a modest fraction of the population, and without climate data to adjust for temperature-related range loss, the practical range of any EV in Dongguan remains uncertain. The four routes hint at potential for longer trips, but they do little to address the core problem of inadequate daily charging access. For Dongguan to become EV-ready, a substantial increase in charging stations is needed to match its population density.
