Tokyo, with a population of 13.96 million, presents a stark contrast between its dense urban demand and its current EV infrastructure. The city has only 34 charging stations, a number that is critically low for a metropolis of this scale, forcing most daily driving to rely on home or workplace charging. The 16 planned routes into and out of the city suggest some strategic corridor development, but these routes do little to alleviate the scarcity of local public charging for residents. Tokyo's normal climate offers a neutral range impact, meaning battery performance is not significantly degraded by cold or heat, which is a slight advantage. However, with an estimated EV count of zero, the infrastructure is clearly nascent and not yet ready to support widespread adoption. For a city of this size, the station count implies that most daily commutes and errands would be impractical without private charging access, leaving the city far from being EV-ready.
